Having more strength, hardness or intensity than another, or the most of all. Said of a solid thing, a person, a pain, the cold, a hardship.
هَذَا الْحَبْلُ أَشَدُّ مِنْ ذَاكَ.
This rope is stronger than that one.
Placed before a word naming a quality or a state, it serves to say “more” or “most”: more black, more angry.
