To refuse to hold a thing as true: a piece of news, an account, a claim. Whoever does so declares that what he is told is false.
كَذَّبَ رَامِي بِالْخَبَرِ
Rami rejected the news as false.
To tell a person, or to say of them, that they are lying; to charge them with untruth.
كَذَّبَ الْجَارُ الْبَائِعَ
The neighbour called the seller a liar.
