Measuring, measure

Measuring goods by volume, and the amount so measured. It is said of wheat, grain and whatever is sold by the vessel rather than by weight.

أَتَمَّ الْبَائِعُ كَيْلَ الْقَمْحِ قَبْلَ الظُّهْرِ.

The seller finished measuring the wheat before noon.

Measuring vessel

The vessel of fixed capacity with which grain is measured. It is said of the instrument itself, of wood or metal.

مَلَأَ التَّاجِرُ الْكَيْلَ أَرُزًّا.

The merchant filled the measure with rice.
