كُلٌّ

all, each one

Type
noun
Root
ك ل ل

Meaning and usage

All, the whole of

Before a particular thing or group, the word gathers all its parts and leaves nothing out: "all the", "the whole of".

Every, each

Before a word taken in general ("a day", "a person") it goes through all of the kind one by one: "every", "each".

All, each one (on its own)

Standing alone, with nothing after it, it takes up a group just mentioned: "all of them", "each of them". The word keeps one shape but speaks of several.

In the fullest degree

Placed after a word and followed by that same word once more, it says that the person has the quality in question in the highest degree: "a real one", "in every sense of the word".
