A time, an occasion

Each of the occasions on which a thing happens or is done; it is the word used to count how many times. It also counts an action done at a stroke, without coming back to it: “in one go”.

زَارَ سَامِي الْمَدِينَةَ مَرَّةً وَاحِدَةً.

Sami visited the city one time only.

قَرَأَ رَامِي الدَّرْسَ فِي مَرَّةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ.

Rami read the lesson in one go.
