To go away from a place, a person or a thing and no longer attend to it, by choice or by necessity.
تَرَكَ سَامِي الْمَدِينَةَ فِي الصَّبَاحِ
Sami left the city in the morning.
To no longer do something one used to do, or to refrain from it; said of a habit, a job, a task.
تَرَكَ رَامِي التَّدْخِينَ
Rami gave up smoking.
Not to take a thing along when going; also said of the belongings a person leaves to their family at death.
تَرَكَتْ لَيْلَى حَقِيبَتَهَا فِي الْبَيْتِ
Layla left her bag at home.

What the root means ت ر ك
The root carries the idea of letting go of a thing and moving away from it. From it come "leaving", "estate left by the dead", "left, abandoned", "thing left behind" and "to leave one another alone".
