What the seller receives in return for the thing sold, most often a sum of money. Said of anything that is bought and sold.
دَفَعَ سَامِي ثَمَنَ الْكِتَابِ.
Sāmī paid the price of the book.
More broadly, whatever is given or received in exchange for something else, be it money or goods: what a thing costs the one who wants it.
