The one born of someone, boy or girl. The same word can name a single child or all of a person's offspring.
لَعِبَ الْوَلَدُ مَعَ أَبِيهِ فِي الْحَدِيقَةِ.
The child played with his father in the garden.
The young of a beast of any kind. Said of the little one a mother animal has just borne or is rearing.
