To see a thing with one's own eyes. Said when one names what the eye has fallen on, and also of turning one's eyes towards a thing to try to make it out.

أَبْصَرَ رَامِي طَائِرًا عَلَى الشَّجَرَةِ.

Rami saw a bird on the tree.

By image, to grasp a thing with the mind as plainly as if one saw it.
