Dead

No longer alive; said of a person, an animal or a plant. Classical authors also apply it to one who is on the point of dying.

وَجَدَ الْفَلَّاحُ طَائِرًا مَيِّتًا فِي الْحَقْلِ.

The farmer found a dead bird in the field.

Barren, without vegetation

Said of land where nothing grows, with neither grass nor pasture. The image is of soil with no life in it.

صَارَ الْحَقْلُ مَيِّتًا بَعْدَ الْجَفَافِ.

The field became barren after the drought.
